 When was the last time I posted outfit pictures that were taken on the correct setting while it was still light outside? I know, probably never. But that doesn't matter, because now it's happened! I brought my camera along to lunch today then forced Nicole to make a pit-stop next to our dorm building for a quick photo shoot - and in case you were wondering, those windows behind me face into a classroom that had students in it while we were taking pictures. Worse than sneaking around outside the Jesuit residence? Not sure...

I was honestly contemplating doing laundry sooner than my habitual 3-4 weeks just so that this shirt would be clean again. I'm in love! The chambray, the oversize fit - I don't even mind that I think it was called a tunic (for those of you who don't know, I despise tunics). And this dress is obscenely short, but I just couldn't resist the denim with the deep green with the pseudo-leopard print shoes, in case you couldn't tell I really love this outfit! That was really obnoxious, done now. Time to do some work so I can go to bed at a reasonable hour again tonight! Hope you all had a lovely start to your week :)

new york, take 2

So my previous post was titled "new york, take 2," as this last weekend in New York was my second time visiting Beth at Fordham. But my roommate got confused and was wondering where "new york, take 1" was - so I just changed it to take 1, and here you have take 2, with photos of Beth and I in Times Square

Ok so lot's of Beth's outfit is from our shopping excursion on Saturday, so I feel pretty confident id'ing most of her pieces - the dress is from my new favorite thrift store AuH20 in the East Village (so jealous that Beth can now go there whenever she wants), the necklace is from the street fair we wandered Sunday afternoon, and her bag (it's like a mini-me of my bag!) and shoes are from Cure, another thrift store in the village - we just might have done a bit of damage in the Village Saturday afternoon? 

I have to say I am loving her leather jacket though, right? I own a leather jacket and never seem to wear it, but Beth definitely rocks hers. We looked very chic out on the town together.

Can we talk about how much I love this necklace?  It's one of my finds from my new favorite store, and even though it was the most expensive thing either of us bought there at $24 - and Beth even bought a Burberry sweater - I couldn't resist. It's vintage-y, it's sparkly, it's chunky.... what else is there in a necklace?

I really thought I'd gotten into a thing, doing these every other day posts... apparently not so much. And I looked so cute yesterday! I wore this adorable shirtdress my mom got me from J.Crew and my Frye boots (which would be a much-appreciated change I'm sure, since I believe all you've seen me in lately is moccasins - promise I don't wear them every day)

Found this bejeweled little piece at a thrift store in Fort Collins, Colorado (when I was helping Mckenna move back to school at the end of the summer). I think it may actually be a choker - quite the trendy piece nowadays, not sure if I'll be participating regardless... much prefer it as a wrap bracelet.

 I showed this vest earlier this summer, only as a crop top, a la Natalie - not sure if I could pull of the same look, as I am lacking the rock-hard yoga abs... She actually also wore it for her senior pictures, which I must say are absolutely gorgeous! I might just have to pick my favorites (if that's possible) and put them up in a post so that you can all marvel at them yourselves. Funny anecdote: as we were getting ready for Natalie's senior pictures - a.k.a picking out like 5 outfits from all of our closets, filling up the car with props, driving out to our uncle's horse farm, I remembered my senior pictures. Which were basically "Alison grab a few shirts from your closet, we'll go wander the yard and figure something out" - notice a difference? Oh well, photoshoots are more Natalie's thing. Which is why I'm the one with a blog?

  Can't believe that one week from tomorrow I'll be in NYC and that two weeks from tomorrow my mom will be here in D.C. with me! October is most definitely going to be a good month... Good night all!

Sorry for the quick and awkward photos here, but as you will read below we were on a little excursion and I don't like people looking at me while I have photos taken. So we were very sneaky...

I just realized looking back at these photos that my belt is most definitely not in place! Ignore that please, as I hope everyone else who saw me today did.

 

Photos in today's post were taken at the Textile Museum! Nicole, Colleen (my other Colleen, who goes to Georgetown with me) and I went on this trip sponsored by a Georgetown group called "Breaking the Bubble" and got to explore a bit of the city today! A lot of students really never leave our campus and the surrounding M street area (there's shopping, restaurants, cupcakes - what else do you need, really?), in what is colloquially called the "Georgetown Bubble." So this group received a grant from the school to subsidize trips for students to get food, see music, explore galleries all around the District! We went to the farmer's market (so. many. free samples.), ate dozens of empanadas, explored a used book shop, walked up embassy row, and went to the textile museum! It was a fun little trip, and definitely inspired me to get out into the city more often from now on! Oh, and I took a city bus for the first time. Pretty proud.

But now I'm getting some work together and headed to the library for a muffin. And to do work, you ask? I mean yes, I suppose I may do some work at the library. Mostly just there for the pastries. Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

I'm pretty proud of myself right now - I'm doing an outfit post on a Sunday! As you may or may not have read in earlier posts (because you all clearly voraciously read everything I write) I tend not to dress well on Sundays. In fact, as I write this, I've changed out of my skirt and am in plaid pajama pants. But I decided to make an effort earlier this afternoon, and here are the results...

 I've been itching to wear this skirt for ages! Having been a Catholic schoolgirl for upwards of 6 years, I've worn my fair share of pleated skirts. But I still love them! I considered bringing one of my old uniform skirts with me to school (I would not be the only one from my school to bring my uniform to college with me, trust me) but when I found this adorable gray version from Target, I decided to trade up.

For one, I am in love with this bag. My love for satchels is well-documented, but this one is just particularly good - the size is absolutely perfect, the black leather goes with everything... it's love. Speaking of special things, I love these boots. They were my first pair of boots (well, first pair that wasn't solely for snow-protection purposes) and they have given me a pretty good 5 or so years. Not sure if you can tell in the photo below, but they're kind of falling apart. It will be a sad day when I no longer have my gray flannel boots...

Today was a lovely Sunday! Nicole and I walked down M Street to Lululemon, where we attended the free yoga class they give at noon on Sundays! It was extremely crowded, but a good workout nonetheless. Just what I needed after baking a cake, then eating half of it myself directly out of the pan with a fork. Don't tell my mom but this may not have been the healthiest weekend for me, food-wise...  (oh don't worry, I'm aware of the fact that she will read this and most likely chastise me for it later ^^). Now I'm just trying to get a bit of work done, then going to the common room to watch The Little Mermaid! Gotta love Sundays :)

DC adventures

Spent the day yesterday out and about with my friend Colleen! In case you don't remember, she and I went to high school together and now she goes to Catholic University, just a short metro ride from Georgetown! Don't really have any legitimate outfit shots, but here is a bit of our day

At Catholic's metro stop! One of my only problems with Georgetown is our lack of a metro stop - they are so lucky to have one on their doorstep, makes it so much easier to get into the city. And for further reference to my outfit, the dress is H&M and the belt is stolen from a Heritage 1981 dress (and the bag is my newest favorite thrift find, and old Coach)

We were at Payless so Colleen could pick up some cheap, comfortable shoes for work when I saw these shoes and just had to make her put them on. Not sure if you can tell from the photo but - they are fuzzy. And have a metallic heel. What exactly were you thinking Christian Siriano? Because I honestly just don't get it.

Oh and at Forever 21 we all picked out ridiculous outfits to try on - not sure if the others wanted me to put up their photos, as they are much more scandalous. But what did I pick? Knit, sweater-like shorts. Of course. They were actually so comfy though! Had they been a bit cheaper I would've gotten them for pajamas. But alas I am on a shopping ban. Even though I might have bought something yesterday? Just a few cheap things from H&M, and the dress I got is so cute! I''m wearing it today, and if the rain ever stops I may be able to get outside and take photos...

Awwww, aren't we cute? It was quite a fun day, always good to get off-campus and spend the day with an old friend. Sorry for dashing this post off so quickly, but I need to get to International Finance! Thanks for reading :)

It's my first set of outfit photos taken back at Georgetown! And poor Nicole is back to having to take photos for me... Well at the very least this was taken about 100 yards from our dorm and took about 2 minutes. She's really good at rapid-fire picture taking. Which is good, since about 99% half or so of my photos are unusable due to my weird facial expressions. Here are the ones that worked out:

It's my favorite shirt again! I was talking with my dad the other day about the size of my wardrobe (he's appalled) when he said: "So you probably own 50 or so shirts, so you only wear them a few times a year, right?" - that's if they're not this shirt. Seriously I'm sure that if you look back in the posts I've worn it a couple times in the past month. There are just some shirts that go with everything, you know? Or that work as a good fallback when you wake up and realize you have literally no idea what to wear...

Ok, got to be honest and say that there are these pink dots all over my skirt and I have no idea if they're supposed to be there. No, not the red dots, I'm not stupid. But see those little pink splotches? What are they? Did I get drugged and attacked with a pink highlighter? It's a mystery I fear I may never solve.

First day of sophomore year is officially under my belt! Russian was surprisingly not as much of a massacre as I expected it to be (considering I remember nothing, that is. Is that a problem?) and all the rest of my classes were just intro stuff and got let out early! So now on to the gym tonight, in preparation for the cupcake I'm going to eat tomorrow :) My first cupcake of the semester! Needless to say I'm pretty excited... Hope you all had a lovely Wednesday

A fun little floral ring! It's plastic so really light and easy to wear, probably around a size 8? Like I actually know the size of my own fingers... To be honest, I don't know the brand, since I found it at a little boutique near my house. 

A vintage silk scarf! This one I found at a shop in Minneapolis, and I think it's quite fun - in reality, when all spread out like this, the pattern is quite ridiculous. But when you get all creative (you know, tie it around your head turban-style or perhaps in a fancy knot around your neck) the ridiculous pattern becomes a gorgeous mix of color!

Last but not least, a little satchel from Target, courtesy of my sister Natalie. She wanted to get a new purse for summer, bought it, then decided it wasn't her style, so she was going to give it to me. Until I came home with my black satchel, which looks quite similar. So I suggested that she give it to me anyways and that I would put it in my giveaway. That way, we can spread the satchel-love around to some lucky reader :)
