new york, take 2

So my previous post was titled "new york, take 2," as this last weekend in New York was my second time visiting Beth at Fordham. But my roommate got confused and was wondering where "new york, take 1" was - so I just changed it to take 1, and here you have take 2, with photos of Beth and I in Times Square

Ok so lot's of Beth's outfit is from our shopping excursion on Saturday, so I feel pretty confident id'ing most of her pieces - the dress is from my new favorite thrift store AuH20 in the East Village (so jealous that Beth can now go there whenever she wants), the necklace is from the street fair we wandered Sunday afternoon, and her bag (it's like a mini-me of my bag!) and shoes are from Cure, another thrift store in the village - we just might have done a bit of damage in the Village Saturday afternoon?

I have to say I am loving her leather jacket though, right? I own a leather jacket and never seem to wear it, but Beth definitely rocks hers. We looked very chic out on the town together.

beret from Canada? (I know, super-specific)
vintage necklace
h&m dress and flats
coach bag
thrifted button down (tied to bag - Sunday was quite warm!)

Can we talk about how much I love this necklace?  It's one of my finds from my new favorite store, and even though it was the most expensive thing either of us bought there at $24 - and Beth even bought a Burberry sweater - I couldn't resist. It's vintage-y, it's sparkly, it's chunky.... what else is there in a necklace?

Ok, that's a lot of photos for you all to digest and Nicole really wants me to stop writing so that we can watch the Lying Game - so that's all for this post! Perhaps tomorrow I will inundate you with pictures of New York food, or maybe show off my new purchases? Choices... Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

new things

Yay for new clothing! These are a few pieces I got recently but haven't been able to wear yet, either from their dressiness or weather-inappropriateness, respectively. So here you go!

So this dress is label-less, but the tag from the store says it was from H&M? I don't really know, except to say that if I had seen this dress in-store I wouldn't have missed it... look at the little petal details on the sleeves, how cute! And it's a bit on the longer side (I mean, on the longer side for me. See yesterday's post. I mean, it's still above the knee and everything) so it's appropriate for a variety of occasions. Can't wait to wear it! Maybe I'll make my parents go out to a nice dinner with me? Ooh, we could go to the club and I could get their amazinggg lobster mac&cheese. Yes. It's a plan

I know this sweater must look a bit ridiculous on the hanger, with its shoulder pads and sequin circles everywhere. But it's actually adorable on! I'm thinking in the fall with some skinny jeans and ballet flats or boots, it could be perfect. Once again, it will be awhile before I get to wear fall clothes though :(

And best thing about these purchases? Together, they were less than $15! They were some of my other purchases at the My Sister's Closet 50% off summer sale, so the dress was only $5, and the sweater was $6.50, I think? So basically, I'm pretty awesome. Just kidding, that sounds obnoxious. But hopefully the weather is awesome where I am right now, up north at my friend's cabin! As this post is scheduled, I honestly have no idea if it is... So send good vibes towards Minnesota everyone :) And have a lovely Saturday!

simple summer day

So tonight Jenny, Natalie and I are going to see Britney Spears at the Excel Center! We went to pick up our tickets this morning and they turned out to be pretty good (especially considering we got them 50% on Groupon - her tickets are kind of outrageous). But as for right now we're all pretty casual, in some typical-summer-day outfits. Walked up to Punch for a yummy pizza lunch, then went to the mall where I found some very cute purchases (despite my resolution not to spend much money. Put me in a mall and I'm such a fail...)

hanes tshirt
born sandals
everything else thrifted

Normally I don't like short floral skirts on me - don't ask me why, I've always just felt that way. But Jenny and I were at Ordinary People (a consignment/vintage shop in St. Paul) and we decided that for $10, this was a pretty good pick. And I quite like it! It's a bit short, but I'm a bit taller than average, so what's new.

We went to the flea market in St. Germain (a town near the cabin in Wisconsin) and I picked up these charms and the purse below, which I am so excited about! I saw it and immediately wanted it, then got chastised by my mother for how many little satchels I already own. So I walked away, then ran back about 10 minutes later to buy it - it was only $12. So psyched. And the charms are an old key and a Spelling bee charm, both were $1 apiece, thought they would be fun additions to my collection :)

And here we have Jenny in a crop top from H&M (I only know that because I was there when she bought it, a.k.a. last time we were at the mall). She always forgets that while crop tops may be an ordinary occurrence in L.A., they are not as widely accepted in the Midwest. However, the crop is only minor, and I think she looks adorable. Speaking of things that are not de rigeur in Minnesota, she bought this gorgeous bodysuit at American Apparel! Maybe we'll go out to a club or something and I can take pictures of it for you all, because it's pretty amazing- here is a picture of Megan Fox in it on the cover of Rolling Stone. Jenny, however, plans on wearing it with pants. And has a bit less on top (if she doesn't mind me saying), so it looks much classier on her. Oh, and I'm sure she would want me to mention that Khloe Kardashian has also worn it. A fun purchase I think :)

Ok, now I need to get dressed. We're leaving in about 10 minutes... and I have absolutely no I idea what I'm going to wear. If only I could wear heels! Alas my heel isn't strong enough for that yet. Ok. Really need to go. Have a lovely evening :)
