pure perfection

all images from style.com

I know I'm a little late considering London Fashion Week ended just about a week ago, but now that I finally have some free time to look through the fall shows I just felt the need to show some looks from Mary Katrantzou - the artistry and intricacy that go into her prints are really just astonishing! I love looking through the London shows, as there is so much more freedom and whimsicality that go into their collections as opposed to the, albeit more wearable, much more sales-driven New York shows (I mean, this isn't true across the board, but have you looked at the Central Saint Martins show yet? Fascinating, but probably not going to be seen walking down your average street any time soon).

I haven't really been a fan of the peplums that have been cropping up all over lately, but surprisingly Katrantzou kind of makes me like them - that sleeveless dress I showed second with the box-like drop waist or the gown at the end? Absolutely gorgeous, and if I had a spare couple thousand dollars sitting around, I'd wear both in a heartbeat. And back to her prints - the ornamental lawn dress? How amazingly detailed is that? It's really quite breathtaking.

And there end my raptures on Mary Katrantzou. To give you a little update on my life, today I went down to the new pie shop near Georgetown and bought myself a miniature pumpkin pie, then went back to my room to watch some How I Met Your Mother. So, needless to say, it's been a pretty satisfactory afternoon. Hope you're all having a lovely week!

shades of red

Or rather, just one shade of red - burgundy, to be specific. But honest to goodness (does anyone use that phrase anymore?) it has to be one of my favorite colors for this fall! So in lieu of an outfit post for the day - as the bipolar change from gray and rainy to swelteringly sunny has made dressing slightly difficult - I have a variety of beautiful burgundy-based inspirational images for you!

Can you guess who this is? Of course you can... it's Celine! I feel like by now her point of view is so distinct and recognizable, I would know it anywhere. But to stop ranting about the amazingness of Celine (as that would be it's own post), she had some lovely burgundy incorporated into her collection. That jacket is to die for.

Next from Emilio Pucci we get these lovely burgundy pants. And can I just put this out there - I really want a pair of burgundy pants. Like a lot. There was a pair of Gap legging jeans on sale back home at the mall, but there was only one pair left. I asked for her to look them up, and apparently there were none left in the entire country? I don't know, but regardless, I'm on the hunt (or I would be, if I weren't on a shopping ban? Will that last if I find them?)

Last but clearly not least, The Row. Also quite recognizable from their oversized fur turbans. If only they weren't so expensive! Honestly, the Row comes out with some of the most classic yet interesting, luxurious, and well-made pieces I've ever seen.... one day I will marry a rich man and buy it all.... just kidding. sort of.

And now we have a little collage, courtesy of moi (and polyvore). Oh the things I would buy, if only I weren't on a shopping ban... I'm especially enjoying the things that are both burgundy and velvet. They have a particularly nice look to them don't you think?

What are you favorite colors for the season?

reed krakoff

Ok, can we talk for a bit about how obsessed I am with Reed Krakoff? In all the magazines I've been reading lately, his bags just seems to be everywhere! And you can always tell they're his by that distinctive belt detail around the top. Gorgeous. So anyways, since I'm currently in the Northwoods right about now hopefully enjoying some gorgeous weather out on the lake, here are some photos from his ad campaign/fall 2011 collection (there are photos for the pre-spring 2012 collection here, but that just seems a bit excessive considering we are currently living summer 2011, doesn't it?)

Feel like this just says it all. I mean, look at that bag! The different shades of tan, the black detailing...  Why don't I own this? Oh yeah, it's $1490...

His show was full of amazing outerwear, as was the trend this past fall, but his were especially well-cut and classic I think. And his dresses are gorgeous, though they got a bit of criticism for being too difficult to wear, with the long sleeves and the belting around the hips... still, I've always been one for looser, leggier looks :)

Sooo, this is basically what I want to be wearing this fall! Rich neutrals (with a bit of color thrown in, especially if it's that burgundy dress) with a lot of texture and layers. Speaking of fall textures, why don't I like wool?? I feel like this is going to be a problem for me as I go on through life... Anyways, hope you enjoy, and hope your weekend is going swimmingly! (some swimming would be good too ^^)
