new clothing

Where are these new purchases from, you may ask? Would it be that trip that I took, oh, about 2 weeks ago? Yes, yes it would - clearly I'm really good at posting what I say I will post. I've actually worn all of these pieces before but, being the awesome forgetful blogger that I am, haven't managed to get pictures of them up yet - and they've been some cute outfits!

My cute little burgundy bow-blouse! Many adjectives and no commas... Wore this last weekend to work with my black skinnies and pseud-moto boots - basically felt like a model. It was fun, and made being unable to walk by the end of the day slightly more bearable.

It's a blazer. It's oversized. It's tribal print. Beth may have tried to talk me out of buying it, but I couldn't help it! Wore it yesterday and, despite all the looks I got from the other, much preppier students around campus, quite enjoyed myself.

Cardigan/blouse/thing with a really cute print! Wore it on the bus back from New York, and it looks nice layered over a basic tank and some jeans. Also, I really like the detailing around the neck.

Necklaces! The turquoise one you saw in yesterday's post, and the other pendant was in an outfit post from New York. Love them both, and we all know I need more pendants like I need a hole in the head...

As I sit here I realized that I didn't even take pictures of everything I bought! These are just the purchases from my new favorite store (that I don't live in the correct city for. Sadness.) There's also a cute little dress and a new winter coat! I guess I'll just do those later? It's me, so I'm making no promises as to when that will be... But guess what? Now the week is over, and we can all enjoy the weekend! (Except me, since this is a scheduled post and I'm currently at work for an 8-hour shift... but such is life) Happy Friday all!

I like this dress because it's basically a shirt

In retrospect, that may not have been the best way to describe my own piece of clothing. May give the wrong idea? But when the weather is like this, you use what you have. And I have a dress so short that it's practically a shirt. Perfect.

Oh, we're getting extra-short there, aren't we? I'll keep my arms down from now on, promise.

Look at these little buttons, how cute are they?! Put the one through the button-loop on the other side of the jacket, and they're attached by the little chain! I wasn't really sold on the blazer in the store, but when I noticed the button detail, I couldn't resist

So, update on the zumba situation (if you haven't read previous posts, I went to zumba class for the first time last night, and was a bit worried, to say the least) - it was so much fun! I mean, I was horrid at it, but oh my goodness it was a blast! I've decided it's the cardio exercise for me. And apparently, after the first 10 classes or so you start to get the hang of it and don't look so stupid anymore! A girl can dream, right?

Babysitting the adorable next-door neighbors tonight, then I'm heading up to my friend's cabin for a little impromptu trip! As my cousins and grandma from Iowa are coming up to the cities for the weekend also, it's only going to be a one-day trip, and we're coming back tomorrow night, but still, should be fun! I haven't been up there at all this summer, and as we all go back to school in a matter of weeks, we're running out of time. And it's only two or so hours away (compared to my cabins four and a half...) so definitely worth it. Since I'll be gone tomorrow, think I'll put up a scheduled post of some new purchases that I haven't had the chance to show off yet? Probably... hope you all have a lovely weekend, get some sun!

carbonara night

So, after being abandoned for the evening, Natalie, Caitlin and I decided to make carbonara! It's one of my absolute favorite pastas, but my mom refuses to make it for me since it's so unhealthy (sigh. the problems with living in a healthy household). But after some researching, Natalie found that traditionally carbonara isn't actually made with cream, just eggs! So we decided to experiment, and it turned out pretty well! A little too much pepper. And, to be honest, I think the artery-clogging cream version is better :)

And Natalie's lovely spinach salad. Seriously this girl goes through so many fruits and vegetables in a day it's insane. We've had put her on a no-carrot diet for the time being, as she was starting to turn orange - not even kidding...

I've been told that if I don't put Sophie into the blog, she'll cry... more like run around in circles and throw her mushy bone at the wall (she's not the brightest dog in the world ^^). But we love her :)

One down-side of this blazer I have discovered is that it has a tendency to seem very nautical - as in, I can't wear it with stripes (which I own and wear quite often) without looking like an off-duty sailor. Oh well, I still like it, especially now that I took the linebacker-esque shoulder pads out.

We went shopping today! Caitlin had an eye-doctor appointment, so while she was being examined Natalie and I did a little shopping in Old Navy. She was shopping for choir tour (in other words, everything below the knee) something I am going to miss so much! They're going to Australia in a few weeks, I'm beyond jealous. Back on subject. Ok. I got an adorable new swimsuit, as well as some black denim shorts and a little patterned skirt. Photos coming soon, assuming it ever warms up in this weird state.

I'm posting twice today! This is kind of odd... But I've decided that if I can't have a job, the least I can do this summer is exercise and blog well - guess which one I'm not so good at? (please don't say blogging that will make me sad ^^)
