the end of hats

Romeo and Juliet Couture cardigan; Zara tshirt; Vintage necklace; J. Crew belt; Banana Republic shorts; Toms

With the weather getting warmer every day, how much longer will I be able to wear my sweaters, my variuos copious pairs of boots, or my oversized sweaters? It is a serious concern. You see, to be honest, when I can't layer (as so often happens in the summertime), I just don't know what to wear! Without the cardigan and floppy hat, what is this outfit? A t-shirt and shorts. That's it.  And where's the fun in that?

So yeah. I'm really tired and can't think of anything else to write about. Went to the midnight premier of The Hunger Games last night, got into bed around 4 am, then got up at 8:30 for 3 or so hours of classes... It's been a rough morning. So on that note, I'm done! Have a lovely weekend all :)

long week

H&M button down; Gap sweater; Vintage necklaces; Target skirt; Minnetonka Moccasin moccasins

Gotta love having three different pairs of moccasins...especially when the sole of your right brown one literally starts to disconnect itself from the rest of shoe (on a side note does that keep me from wearing them? Of course not). So this is my outfit yesterday, and I think it worked well despite the gale-force winds that kept me in perpetual fear of flashing passerby on my way to class. That being said, who doesn't love a good pleated skirt? The throwback to high school always makes me nostalgic.

I would love to write bore you more with stories of my life, but I have a Comparative Political Systems midterm and paper due tomorrow, and they may be the death of me... so good night, send positive vibes to Washington DC tomorrow afternoon!

next halloween

Rachel Rachel Roy dress; BDG (Urban Outfitters) cardigan; pendant from street market in NYC; belt stolen from my vintage floral dress; Target boots

So the title of this post is in no way not particularly related to my day, it's just that I have plans to wear this dress next year on Halloween, belted with twine or something of the sort, with moccasins and a little hat and be Robin Hood. How cute will that be? Personally, I'm pretty excited.

In other news, today has been an interesting day, just got back from a 4-hour-or so hiatus from the room to take my Econ Stats midterm, perform a song with my a capella group, then have rehearsal with said a capella group... all while extremely exhausted/with a head cold. Needless to say I'm going to bed soon. Scratch that, probably going to bed right now. Night all!

P.S. Bright spot in my day? Mom and dad sent me cookies for Valentine's Day! And who doesn't love heart-shaped sugar cookies during midterms? No one. (enjoy the double-negatives, I'm too tired to care)

grandma's vest

Old Navy button down; Vest knitted by Grandma; Levis jeans; Vintage necklace; Nordstrom boots

Once again, oh so long since I last posted. But don't you love my vest? My grandma knitted it for me a few years ago - she said for Christmas that she'd knit us each one thing and let us pick a piece from the catalog. I of course asked for the men's vest. I like oversized knits, whats new.

So, fun stories you've all missed since I last posted. Yesterday morning I got a rude wake-up call at about 5 am when my building's fire alarm went off. I guess its the special alarm to make sure everyone wakes up, but it pretty much just sounded like a foghorn. I literally fell out of bed I was so startled, and then I was just so freaked out that I couldn't find my glasses and didn't really think the whole middle-of-the-night-in-February thing through, so I just put on flip flops to go with the shorts I'd been sleeping in. Walked outside, it was 10 degrees. There was snow on the ground. Let's just say it was interesting.

Why am I still awake? After waking up with a serious twinge in my throat this morning I've decided that I need to get more sleep this week. Unfortunately for me Economic Statistics exists, so that may happen.  Good night!

shades of gray

Vintage button down; Victoria's Secret tshirt; Vintage brooch (pinned to chain); J. Crew skirt; Gap boots

So in reference to the title of the post, when commenting on my outfit today Nicole said that I looked good, "and all the shades of gray on you seem to complement each other well" - a.k.a. pretty much how you would describe my entire wardrobe (if you add in a couple "pops" of navy blue or forest green).

Can I just say that I can't wait for spring break? School can be just oh so tiring, so if it could just be three weeks from tomorrow and I could be in Palm Springs, that would be great. Well, we can have a little pit stop at next weekend, when my friend Beth is coming to visit me! I'm using her visit as an excuse to get out into the city and do all the things I want to do but never seem to be able to... Anyways, Nicole and I are watching Gilmore Girls and I can't seem to make myself focus, so good night!

spring in february

BDG cardigan (Urban Outfitters); Ecote dress (Urban Outfitters); Vintage necklace; H&M scarf; Target boots

Got back from rehearsal tonight and didn't feel like having any pictures taken of me - but I'm really a fan of my outfit today! It was literally the most beautiful day today, around 60 degrees and sunny! Of course I still wore a scarf and boots. But still, I did enjoy the escape from my winter coat, especially since it looks like tomorrow is a return to the rain.

This week has been going quite well so far (knock on wood?), I managed to stay much more on top of my reading this time around, and just generally seem to have more free time. After this, I have to do my Russian homework, and then I can go to bed. Remember how I never got to bed before 2 am last week? Not really my thing.

black and red

James Perse tshirt; Vintage sequin vest; Forever 21 skirt; Frye boots

So what has probably been the busiest week of my life is finally over! I'm back in my room after performing at our campus's AIDS benefit concert (hence the red skirt and shiny vest) and watching a movie before going to bed without setting an alarm for the morning. Yes, I am pretty excited. And guess what? Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of me breaking my foot! Can you believe it's been that long? For those of you who haven't been reading my blog for long, go back into the archives of last spring and take a look at some of the outfit posts with my cast... it's amusing.

But for now, the roommate and I are watching a movie! So good night all, and have a lovely weekend :)

goodbye home

Vintage cardigan, ring, and bracelet; H&M dress; Nordstrom scarf; Sorel boots

Mom shrunk my cardigan. I know, I know, it was so oversize to begin with you probably won't believe me when I say that I bought it when it was bigger. But I really do love oversize sweaters. Oh well, the good thing about it being super-oversized to start with is that post-shrinking, it's still pretty oversized.

One of my pretty new pieces of loot from Grandma's house this break - isn't costume jewelry just the best? I love how sparkly it is, it just brightens up anything you wear. And you should see all the jewelry I've picked up this break! When it comes to jewelry hand-me-downs, I really am a spoiled girl...

Glad I can finally put up a real outfit post! Last day before I go home but better late than never I guess? There isn't much in my head that's witty right now, probably it's all the post-surgery painkillers, so I will just bid you all bon nuit :)

stripes and spots

Sorry for not posting for the last few days, but I just look so adorable today! My friends are making fun of me for saying that, but you know, there are just some days that you're really, super excited about what you're wearing. And when I put on this leopard coat, that's just how I felt.

Christmas present headband
Vintage coat and necklace
J. Crew dress
Michael Kors Watch
Aldo boots

I don't know, I think it's just the combination of leopard spots in the coat and all the navy and stripes from my dress... this coat is one of my mom's, and if I ever thought I'd wear it out in every day life, I would steal it in a second.

One of my lovely new Christmas presents (in addition to the dress). Ever since Jenny got her rose gold watch from Michael Kors this summer, I've been lusting after one of his tortoiseshell ones. And now I have one! I braved the mall again today (Mall of America right after Christmas? Don't know if you all have heard about the crazy fights, but that definitely happened...) and got a few links removed, and now it's perfect! Also loving the necklace from my Grandma. It wasn't as much a Christmas present as much of a "it's Christmas, you're at my house, you should go through my old costume jewelry" - you know what Grandma? I think I can handle that.

Went out for dinner tonight with a few of my lovely friends in downtown Minneapolis, trying to see everyone before I head off to Canada for New Year's to ski with the family, only to come back and get my wisdom teeth removed. Awesome, right?

Have a great evening everyone :)
