the weather lies

Guess jacket; Banana Republic scarf and sweater; Gap jeans; Target boots; Coach bookbag; Vintage ring

So, apparently it's not spring. The weather last week? Just a cruel joke to make us all thing that it would be summer soon, when really, it's not. At all. Today, it was boots, jacket, and scarf weather. Is that not what I wanted? Maybe. But now that I have it back again, I'm missing my sunny, napping-on-the-lawn weather.

Wow. Nicole and I are watching Gilmore Girls right now and I really can't focus. So, I guess that's it? Good night all.

next halloween

Rachel Rachel Roy dress; BDG (Urban Outfitters) cardigan; pendant from street market in NYC; belt stolen from my vintage floral dress; Target boots

So the title of this post is in no way not particularly related to my day, it's just that I have plans to wear this dress next year on Halloween, belted with twine or something of the sort, with moccasins and a little hat and be Robin Hood. How cute will that be? Personally, I'm pretty excited.

In other news, today has been an interesting day, just got back from a 4-hour-or so hiatus from the room to take my Econ Stats midterm, perform a song with my a capella group, then have rehearsal with said a capella group... all while extremely exhausted/with a head cold. Needless to say I'm going to bed soon. Scratch that, probably going to bed right now. Night all!

P.S. Bright spot in my day? Mom and dad sent me cookies for Valentine's Day! And who doesn't love heart-shaped sugar cookies during midterms? No one. (enjoy the double-negatives, I'm too tired to care)

spring in february

BDG cardigan (Urban Outfitters); Ecote dress (Urban Outfitters); Vintage necklace; H&M scarf; Target boots

Got back from rehearsal tonight and didn't feel like having any pictures taken of me - but I'm really a fan of my outfit today! It was literally the most beautiful day today, around 60 degrees and sunny! Of course I still wore a scarf and boots. But still, I did enjoy the escape from my winter coat, especially since it looks like tomorrow is a return to the rain.

This week has been going quite well so far (knock on wood?), I managed to stay much more on top of my reading this time around, and just generally seem to have more free time. After this, I have to do my Russian homework, and then I can go to bed. Remember how I never got to bed before 2 am last week? Not really my thing.

shorts and tights

Saks Fifth Avenue peacoat; Gap scarf and button down; Martin&Osa shorts; Hue socks; Target boots

So these pictures were taken in like 1 minute on my roommate's way to dance, and I accidentally didn't check the camera's setting so sorry for the lovely quality lack thereof - I made her take the photos because a) I'm really a fan of this outfit and b) I haven't posted in forever. But seriously, my life has been insane this past week. Like straight classes, meetings, and rehearsals... not sure what my life is going to look like in the next few weeks, but I can tell you it probably won't be pretty (and by that I mean that it will be crazy, not to say that I won't be pretty - I always am clearly).

Good news though - I've filled out my official paperwork to become an International Economics major! Glad to have that off my plate, and excited for all the classes I'll get to take in the next few years, I can tell you now it's going to be an interesting ride.

And now it's Alison's naptime, so au revoir all!

P.S. Can we just note my face in the second-to-last photo? It's ridiculous. Also, I think I may have re-broken my foot in the first one?

more hanger outfits

Forever 21 necklace; Kirkland cashmere sweater (thanks dad); J. Crew Skirt; Target boots

So, I've discovered that when outfits are not dresses they are much harder to hang up and photograph in a non-awkward way - I'm sure you didn't get that from the above photo, right? I promise in real life my torso is much longer, since my skirt doesn't start where I hooked it to the hanger, a.k.a approximately where my shoulders should be. I'm really loving the deep greens in this outfit though, and the fun new  piece I picked up at Forever 21 over the break - I find that the few pieces of jewelry I own that don't come from my grandmothers are all ridiculous costume pieces from Forever 21. Not sure how these two tastes really go together (vintage chains, cameos, and... oversize rhinestones?) but I love them both.

Today was a lovely day, once the whole class part of it was over - I still maintain that two hours of Russian on Fridays will be the death of me. But then I went out to a lovely pasta dinner with the girls, baked a funfetti cake, and watched The Devil Wears Prada. So many amazing clothes! Makes me wish it was actually that easy to get a job in the fashion industry, and that I would really have that many designer clothes if I ever happened to get said job... Ah well, such is life. Have a good night,

finals have begun

Less than two weeks until I go home! Last day of classes was Wednesday, and now the studying begins (or, at least, I'm trying really hard to make it begin). My first test is Russian on Tuesday, then a couple of papers due Wednesday - so I'm trying really hard to get the papers done by the end of this weekend. And with the help of some muffins and copious lattes, I may succeed! This morning Jess and I went to a free yoga class and I think sweat half my body weight off... so needless to say I'm not really put together yet for today! But here are pictures of yesterday's outfit, I think I looked pretty cute for a day at the library

gap sweater
hue (maybe?) socks
target boots

First time out in my other Black Friday purchase! My thought process pretty much went as follows when picking this outfit out: It's not raining anymore. Therefore I'm not going to wear tights. Or a jacket. Yes. Logical, right? I honestly still don't understand how this is considered December weather right now. I mean, I just wore flip flops to yoga. Let me repeat that: I wore flip flops. In December. This is so wrong.

Work just really doesn't sound like much fun right now. Thankfully, me and the other girls of Harmony are going to sing at the Study Abroad Christmas party in a bit, so I can I avoid it for a bit longer. But considering that I got up, dressed and got ready just in time for noon yoga, there should probably be some work getting done some time soon. Oh well, tonight I will just hole up in my room and research International Relations until I cry. Or just watch a movie. Maybe both? Who knows... Have a lovely Friday afternoon all!

perfect fall afternoon

Today I wore my suede boots and my dad's old cashmere sweater, got a pumpkin cupcake and a latte, and had a beautiful walk in the fall leaves - to paraphrase from my facebook status from today. But it's true! It was one of those beautiful, sunny, and crisp days of the fall, and my midterms are over! Things just might be looking up. And I looked adorable, in my own, self-centered opionion...

dads sweater
hanes tshirt
jcrew skirt
street fair pendant
target boots

Once again, sorry for all the awkwardly sized photos, its what happens when we take indoor photos and I have to attempt to crop out as much of the messiness as possible. Also, want to hear a funny anecdote about how these indoor photos are taken? With the lights off. Why? Because taking them in the dark with a flash is preferable to the horrid-ness of fluorescent lights. It is the most ridiculous process ever.

Thought I'd take off the sweater and show you the look with the tshirt as well, as it was actually so nice today that I didn't really even need the sweater! Can I make a suggestion to all of you out there? Yes? Ok (I feel like I'm on Dora the Explorer). Buy men's Hanes tshirts. Wash and dry them and they shrink to just the perfect comfy but not too loose size. And they're like 6 for $5. It's perfection.

So the awkward thing about this skirt (which my mom so lovingly sent me in a care package last week by the way. Made my day) is that its a silk underskirt with a lace overlay, and the whole time I was walking, I kept feeling like the underskirt was riding up! And that would not even be the first time I walked around with my skirt accidentally pushed up to my hip - don't judge me, I was wearing tights. And my bookbags always seem to push my skirts to places I would prefer they weren't when I'm not paying attention. It happens.

I can't believe it! My midterms are over, and I survived! Now it's nothing but regularly scheduled readings and homework assignments until finals in the beginning of December. And I go home for the first time since coming back to school in exactly two weeks. I'm one of those dorky college students that actually loves hanging out with their family way too much, and I really can't wait. Hope you all had a great Wednesday!
