lace

zara tshirt
vintage lace vest
thrifted bracelet
gap jeans
minnetonka moccasins
thrifted coach satchel

I really thought I'd gotten into a thing, doing these every other day posts... apparently not so much. And I looked so cute yesterday! I wore this adorable shirtdress my mom got me from J.Crew and my Frye boots (which would be a much-appreciated change I'm sure, since I believe all you've seen me in lately is moccasins - promise I don't wear them every day)

Found this bejeweled little piece at a thrift store in Fort Collins, Colorado (when I was helping Mckenna move back to school at the end of the summer). I think it may actually be a choker - quite the trendy piece nowadays, not sure if I'll be participating regardless... much prefer it as a wrap bracelet.

I showed this vest earlier this summer, only as a crop top, a la Natalie - not sure if I could pull of the same look, as I am lacking the rock-hard yoga abs... She actually also wore it for her senior pictures, which I must say are absolutely gorgeous! I might just have to pick my favorites (if that's possible) and put them up in a post so that you can all marvel at them yourselves. Funny anecdote: as we were getting ready for Natalie's senior pictures - a.k.a picking out like 5 outfits from all of our closets, filling up the car with props, driving out to our uncle's horse farm, I remembered my senior pictures. Which were basically "Alison grab a few shirts from your closet, we'll go wander the yard and figure something out" - notice a difference? Oh well, photoshoots are more Natalie's thing. Which is why I'm the one with a blog?

Can't believe that one week from tomorrow I'll be in NYC and that two weeks from tomorrow my mom will be here in D.C. with me! October is most definitely going to be a good month... Good night all!

P.S. You may notice that this post, unlike my others, is completely devoid of text formatting. Not saying I like it, but I'll try anything once. You're welcome Emily :)

free people

Don't forget about my GIVEAWAY! Because who doesn't love free things? On the subject of "free" we at my house just got the Free People August Catalog, and I'm loving their style for the fall - gorgeous hair, lace details, and floppy hats galore! Enjoy...

all images from www.freepeople.com

Gorgeous right? Too bad it's all so dang expensive... I'm especially loving the lace bloomers in this last photo, even though I'd have no where to wear them. No, I don't take tea on my patio in lace bloomers. How about you? Didn't think so... the things I'll be taking away from this catalog though are a need for lace and crochet, as well as a hankering (great word, right?) to make my hair more voluminous (don't all the models have such nice hair? If only.. well, Mckenna just gave me an Aveda Volumizing Tonic for my birthday, I'll let you know how that works out).

Guess who's working starting at 7:30 am tomorrow morning? Me! And I am oh-so-excited, just tickled pink. Except not at all. Well, that's a lie. I'm excited for my paycheck. And actually, today was a pretty fun day at Old Navy! I got to try on all the styles of jeans and be our resident denim expert. So, direct any of your Old Navy jeans-related questions to this girl right here. Have a good night :)

happy birthday to me

GIVEAWAY, GIVEAWAY, GIVEAWAY. More people should enter. Why not, it's free? Ok, done being annoying, onto my post!

Guess who's 19 today? I am! So who am I putting up pictures of today? Not me! Does that make any sense to any of you? Ok, me neither... Natalie just looked really cute yesterday in this vintage lace top of mine, and I wanted to show her off. Anyways, I look disgusting since I just got back from a yoga sculpt class and sweated half my weight off. Good stuff, right?

vintage lace top (borrowed from me)
jcrew shorts
shoes? Oh wait she's not wearing any. Happens.

So how cute is this! I've had this top since last summer, and I have only worn it as a vest, like over a tank or a basic tshirt. But Natalie pulled it out and tucked it into a skirt for our lunch with Grandma (it being a crop top and everything, things got pretty short) Then when we got back she tossed it over her adorable little pale pink shorts and wore it as a crop top! Love it.

Oh, and yay for fun nail polish! Natalie doesn't really like her toes, but I wanted to show you all her nail polish color since I think it's so adorable! Mint green with a little pink sparkle on top, and she keeps hers slightly better kept than mine -why do I feel the need to keep bringing that up? Mouth shut about my nail grooming habits from now on, promise.

So I got some lovely birthday presents I'd love to show you all (including that top from american apparel I really wanted, courtesy of my good friend Shannon of Lipstick Makes the Girl, a gorgeous quilt, some lovely hair products, and gift cards - a.k.a. nothing to show for them yet, but I will get some awesome stuff soon ^^). Yay for birthdays! Except for when you have to work at Old Navy for them... but such is life. Hope you are all having a fantastic Thursday!
