outfit details

I was going to post things from New York, but then I really liked today's outfit so I wanted to post that instead. But of course, being me, I didn't get anyone to take photos of my outfit! So instead of an actual outfit post, you get details, snippets, shall we say, of what I normally post. Here we go

J. Crew sweater: Perfect weight for a fall day in the 60's - you may wonder why I need to wear a sweater when it's in the 60's? Because for Georgetown, fall seems to mean wind that could sweep you off your feet (and will turn your umbrella inside out) and very, very cold rain.  

J Brand cords: Gotta love green pants. Except for when it's raining and now you can't wear your rainboots since they are a conflicting shade of green... But did I change? Of course not. Wear the flats and suck it up (and avoid the largest of the puddles)

Well you get to see one of my New York purchases! This pendant is a little cheapie from the streetfair Beth and I perused Sunday afternoon. I just stuck it on the chain of one of my vintage pieces, and voila! This is the second day straight I've worn it... and I don't wear things two days in a row. It just goes with everything.

J. Crew flats: Still trying to break these in. Got to be honest, J. Crew's flats are absolutely adorable, but cut a little on the toe, at least at first. But it's getting better, and who could resist this little zipper detail? 

Well, this was probably an extremely boring post for all of you... But I just wanted to show my outfit off, and this may be the best only way to do it when you are stuck in a fluorescent-lighted room by yourself. Now I would like to bore you with more details of my life, but I have an exam to study for. Yay for International Finance... Good night all!

So I looked at my phone this morning to check the weather and saw that it would be around 60 degrees. I mean, ok, I can handle that... But then I step outside my dorm. And it's chilly! This was totally unexpected! I mean, I could handle 50s and 60s - in November. This is not what I left the frigid north for...

I'm wearing flip flops in an outfit post! This is my first time doing this, not sure how I feel about it. It was just a flip flop day I guess? Oh, and this cardigan? I love how it kind of has a tweedy, Chanel look to it (at least it does in my head), but in reality it can get kind of annoying. You see, it has they hook-and-eyes, and they attach to the sleeves - basically it's slowly pulling itself to pieces. Drives me insane.

 And p.s., my cords are actually a dark shade of green. I'm realizing it doesn't look that way in the photos, just wanted to advertise that I'm wearing one of my much-beloved pairs of green pants :)

It's Friday! Can't believe I've already had three weeks of school. Sophomore year is so much different than freshman year - and I think I'm enjoying it! I mean, we'll see what I have to say when classes really start to heat up and I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off - except, sadly, it's more likely that I'll get bored than get stressed. I know, I know. Don't hate me. It's just that so far, I haven't really had much to do! And when I have too much free time on my hands, I get stressed. So we shall see. Maybe I'll fill it all up by obsessively blogging and annoying you all with my pointless posting? Always an option... have a lovely weekend all :)

This  morning was Natalie's senior pictures! Which means she is going to be a senior this year, which is totally unacceptable, but I suppose there's not much I can do about that... regardless, before the picture-taking of her started, we had a little family photo-shoot! Wish I could show you the results, but alas the photographer says we probably won't get them for a few weeks. Regardless, here was the outfit I was taken, with pictures taken by yourself truly! A.k.a. they're not as good as the professional ones are going to be...

Just got this shirt yesterday after my shift! So basically I'm doing exactly what they want me to do and putting my paycheck right back into their store. Regardless I'm loving the color, and the little lace detail! And it looks lovely with my new cords. One problem: the cords are reallly low-rise, and when you're working the denim wall (a.k.a. expected to bend over to find things and such), things can get sketchy. So, not to self: don't wear low-rise pants when you're constantly needed to bend over. Oh, and I've managed to stretch out the straps on my sandals so much from pulling them on that they basically don't stay on my ankles anymore. So basically I'm a mess.

We just got back from dinner at Black Sheep Pizza, and it was quite yummy. We always get a large assortment of salads and vegetables to start to share, it's my favorite! I eat too much pizza. It's a problem... And now we're about to engage in some ubercompetitive friendly card playing. Have a good night!

jewelry was a present - a.k.a. I don't know where it's from? But I like it...

Don't you just love that feeling of a new piece of clothing, one that will look perfect with the rest of your wardrobe, fits seamlessly in with the rest of your look? That's how I feel about all these pieces. For one, my older readers will remember how I feel about this top from American apparel - I blogged about it a month or so ago, saying how much I wanted it but how it was too expensive for my sad little summer budget (this was pre-finding a job). Well, apparently my lovely friend Shannon reads my blog - actually it's hilarious, a lot of my friends read my blog, and then I try to tell them stories I've put up here, and they're like "already heard this..." - regardless, she got me my seafoam button down, and I'm so excited! It's oversize, it's sheer, it's that perfect shade of green. Love. Just love.

Next, on the subject of green, are my new cords! It's hard to tell in the photo, as they seem to have a magical, chameleon-like ability to change colors according to the light, but they are actually an army green. I got them on sale at Off Saks for a great sale, and I now own 2 pairs of green pants (you've seen the other pair most recently here, in that post) - pretty exciting.

And now, for my adorable wedges from Old Navy! Aren't they actually beyond adorable? I don't really wear heels or wedges in everyday life, but this is how I'm going to start - imagine these paired with the aforementioned cords and my favorite chambray shirt, or worn with my vintage floral dress! The possibilities are endless, and I will get to lord my height over all the short east-coasters. Mission accomplished. 

Last but not least (boy am I talking too much in this post), is some new jewelry, courtesy of my cousin and aunt for my birthday! Everyone who knows me knows my love for jewelry, especially of the long-necklace variety. So these are perfect. I mean, I could basically run a shop out of my jewelry box - but who doesn't love a necklace with tassels?
