happy december to all

.... And to all a good night. I really wish I could go to bed right now. Honestly, I've been so tired lately! On Tuesday, I took two naps. Worrisome, right? I have a capella in 30 minutes or so though, so no bed for Alison quite yet.

So, here is the only usable - a slightly relative term, looking at it now - one of the photos Nicole and I just took outside before my camera died and she had to run to play intramural basketball (if you knew her, you would find that just as funny as I do). Regardless, I love my sweater - we got it on our family trip to Ireland about 4 years ago, and its the only piece of wool clothing I can wear. I'm sure you all remember my rants on my wool, but for some reason this sweater doesn't bother me! Maybe if I wear it every day for a month or so, I'll be able to handle other wool, and a whole new world of fall/winter clothing will open for me!

And here are the lovely two dresses I picked up while Black Friday shopping! The top one is Rachel Rachel Roy from Macys, and though it came with a belt, I chose not to include it - it actually didn't have a belt when I found it, and when I asked where its belt was they pulled out some long piece of brown leather and said that's what it was! Brown leather with black zippers? I tried it on and felt like Robbin Hood. In fact, I may be Robbin Hood for Halloween next year now. The one below was cheapie from Target, and I'll probably wear it tomorrow, if I can find some combination of layering pieces that makes it possible to wear in this horrible weather...

So that's it for this random amalgam of a post. Tomorrow Harmony (my a capella group) is singing at the Christmas Tree Lighting and I can't wait! Christmas music is seriously the best thing ever. Sometimes I miss the days of high school choir, when I would lose my voice I sang so many concerts in the month of December... and for some of them, we were paid in food, it was lovely. But speaking of music, I'm off to practice, hope you have all had a great week so far!

outfit details

I was going to post things from New York, but then I really liked today's outfit so I wanted to post that instead. But of course, being me, I didn't get anyone to take photos of my outfit! So instead of an actual outfit post, you get details, snippets, shall we say, of what I normally post. Here we go

J. Crew sweater: Perfect weight for a fall day in the 60's - you may wonder why I need to wear a sweater when it's in the 60's? Because for Georgetown, fall seems to mean wind that could sweep you off your feet (and will turn your umbrella inside out) and very, very cold rain.

J Brand cords: Gotta love green pants. Except for when it's raining and now you can't wear your rainboots since they are a conflicting shade of green... But did I change? Of course not. Wear the flats and suck it up (and avoid the largest of the puddles)

Well you get to see one of my New York purchases! This pendant is a little cheapie from the streetfair Beth and I perused Sunday afternoon. I just stuck it on the chain of one of my vintage pieces, and voila! This is the second day straight I've worn it... and I don't wear things two days in a row. It just goes with everything.

J. Crew flats: Still trying to break these in. Got to be honest, J. Crew's flats are absolutely adorable, but cut a little on the toe, at least at first. But it's getting better, and who could resist this little zipper detail?

Well, this was probably an extremely boring post for all of you... But I just wanted to show my outfit off, and this may be the best only way to do it when you are stuck in a fluorescent-lighted room by yourself. Now I would like to bore you with more details of my life, but I have an exam to study for. Yay for International Finance... Good night all!

new things

Yay for new clothing! These are a few pieces I got recently but haven't been able to wear yet, either from their dressiness or weather-inappropriateness, respectively. So here you go!

So this dress is label-less, but the tag from the store says it was from H&M? I don't really know, except to say that if I had seen this dress in-store I wouldn't have missed it... look at the little petal details on the sleeves, how cute! And it's a bit on the longer side (I mean, on the longer side for me. See yesterday's post. I mean, it's still above the knee and everything) so it's appropriate for a variety of occasions. Can't wait to wear it! Maybe I'll make my parents go out to a nice dinner with me? Ooh, we could go to the club and I could get their amazinggg lobster mac&cheese. Yes. It's a plan

I know this sweater must look a bit ridiculous on the hanger, with its shoulder pads and sequin circles everywhere. But it's actually adorable on! I'm thinking in the fall with some skinny jeans and ballet flats or boots, it could be perfect. Once again, it will be awhile before I get to wear fall clothes though :(

And best thing about these purchases? Together, they were less than $15! They were some of my other purchases at the My Sister's Closet 50% off summer sale, so the dress was only $5, and the sweater was $6.50, I think? So basically, I'm pretty awesome. Just kidding, that sounds obnoxious. But hopefully the weather is awesome where I am right now, up north at my friend's cabin! As this post is scheduled, I honestly have no idea if it is... So send good vibes towards Minnesota everyone :) And have a lovely Saturday!
