random collage

Ughhhh I haven't put up a real post in forever! This one doesn't even count... But I was looking through Erdem (because really, who doesn't love him? And sidenote - while in Whistler, I discovered he's Canadian!) photos and found this dress, then decided to make a pretty, pearl-filled collage around it. Of course I threw in a Reed Krakoff bag in, they're my life, whatever... Today was the first day since wisdom teeth surgery that I actually managed to put on my glasses and a little bit of eye makeup, so if we continue on this trajectory maybe I'll have something post-worthy sometime soon? All these pain medications are making me less motivated to do things, like blog, or wear pants that aren't leggings dress nicely. But oh well. I'd better get well soon because I go back to school Tuesday! I really can't believe it.

Have a good night everyone!

shades of red

Or rather, just one shade of red - burgundy, to be specific. But honest to goodness (does anyone use that phrase anymore?) it has to be one of my favorite colors for this fall! So in lieu of an outfit post for the day - as the bipolar change from gray and rainy to swelteringly sunny has made dressing slightly difficult - I have a variety of beautiful burgundy-based inspirational images for you!

Can you guess who this is? Of course you can... it's Celine! I feel like by now her point of view is so distinct and recognizable, I would know it anywhere. But to stop ranting about the amazingness of Celine (as that would be it's own post), she had some lovely burgundy incorporated into her collection. That jacket is to die for.

Next from Emilio Pucci we get these lovely burgundy pants. And can I just put this out there - I really want a pair of burgundy pants. Like a lot. There was a pair of Gap legging jeans on sale back home at the mall, but there was only one pair left. I asked for her to look them up, and apparently there were none left in the entire country? I don't know, but regardless, I'm on the hunt (or I would be, if I weren't on a shopping ban? Will that last if I find them?)
 above images all from style.com
Last but clearly not least, The Row. Also quite recognizable from their oversized fur turbans. If only they weren't so expensive! Honestly, the Row comes out with some of the most classic yet interesting, luxurious, and well-made pieces I've ever seen.... one day I will marry a rich man and buy it all.... just kidding. sort of.

And now we have a little collage, courtesy of moi (and polyvore). Oh the things I would buy, if only I weren't on a shopping ban... I'm especially enjoying the things that are both burgundy and velvet. They have a particularly nice look to them don't you think?

What are you favorite colors for the season?

I like bracelets?

GIVEAWAY GIVEAWAY GIVEAWAY! Imaging me singing that in an operatic voice, that's what I always think of when I put things up like that...

I like bracelets?
So, I've had a bit of an epiphany this past week! After purchasing an adorable crystal embellished cuff bracelet this week at Old Navy, I've discovered that I kind of like bracelets. To be honest, they were always my least favorite type of jewelry. I mean, rings are always fun, you stack them on, you all know my weakness for long chain necklaces, and earrings, well, they're ok, but can definitely add something to an outfit. But bracelets? To me, they always looked kind of ungainly, got in the way, and I was never a huge fan. But now I have this cuff, and I keep seeing all these bracelets around that I want to buy. It's weird! Because for one you all know, I most definitely don't need any more jewelry - well, maybe you don't know? I haven't really posted any pictures of my jewelry box lately or anything. Just believe me. I do. And for two... I don't really have a two. This whole thing is just kind of weird for me. Regardless, I just wanted to put up a little post cataloging my newfound love. Enjoy :)

p.s. Tomorrow I work from 9am - 6pm and then my friend Mckenna is picking me up so we can start our drive to Colorado! I don't know if you all remember this but back in May I flew out to Colorado to help her move out and be a companion on the drive back. Now, I'm doing it again, but the other way around. So, you may not here from me for a few days. Enjoy your weekend!

flower power

each flower
So, I didn't really feel like posting an outfit post today. With the heat index it was 107 degrees, so I was in a really small sundress (a.k.a my go-to when I want as little clothing as is socially acceptable - not like that is much of a restriction these days - in order to keep myself from dying of heat stroke), and one that I've worn many times before the exact same way - as seen here (minus the straw hat since that sadly didn't make the trip to college too well). But I was just thinking how I want to wear my 70's floral dress - you know the one I wore to the Taylor Swift concert, as shown here - but with all the extra fabric, it technically being long-sleeved and calf-length and all, I didn't think that would work out so well. So in my day's boredom I decided to make a slightly hippie-inspired collage instead! Enjoy

Oh, and exciting news! Made my first purchase using my employee discount at Banana Republic (as an employee at Old Navy I get discounts at all three of Gap Inc's major brands, oh yes) and it's so pretty! I'm not sharing what it is yet but hopefully I will get a post of it soon (hint: it's not really weather-appropriate currently, so you won't be seeing it in any outfit posts anytime soon. But it is, on the other hand, very appropriate for where I will be heading back to college in the fall). Now it seems making practically minimum-wage and  working weekend shifts looks more bearable! Bedtime for me, good night!

happy fourth of july!

firework

As I am still far far away from my laptop or any cell phone tower, I created a little 4th-of-July themed collage for you on polyvore - red, white, and blue galore, a little something that I probably won't be wearing today (like I actually wear color...). What I will be doing today (assuming the weather is good. Today, a.k.a. Thursday, the weather forecast shows the 4th being beautiful, hope it holds up) is going to the fireman's cookout and eating some delicious corn-on-the-cob, watching the parade - and not getting nearly enough candy. It's tough not being little and cute anymore ^^ - and watching fireworks from the boat later tonight. Hope you are all having an equally fun 4th! Get out, enjoy the hopefully-present sun, watch some fireworks :) Cheers!

sweatshirt

l'amour fou 2
The title of this post will serve as my explanation as to why I'm posting a collage instead of an outfit. I know, I know, I said I would take actual pictures today. But it was so cold! I wore an old sweatshirt all day and literally almost froze to death. I haven't seen the sun in days. Basically things are looking bleak weather-wise in Minnesota. Apparently we're supposed to get sun tomorrow? I'll believe it when I see it.

In other news, I had my day of shadowing at the carousel today! For those of you who haven't read my blog before, I mentioned previously that I'm volunteering at this historical carousel at a zoo/park in St. Paul. Despite the cold it was really fun! I spent a normal shift (3 hours) following around some of the women who were working the carousel today, learning the routine and all the safety regulations. And let me tell you there are a lot! I spent most of my time on the carousel stressed some small child was going to fall off or some teenager was going to break the leg off a horse. Thankfully none of those things happened. Also, getting on a moving carousel is difficult! I know, they don't move that fast, but still! There are poles everywhere, the horses are moving up and down... needless to say my first few tries were quite graceless. But I think I got the hang of it! Hopefully I can sign up for a shift on my own soon.

I have a busy day tomorrow! I can't make any promises, but I should be wearing something cute (and if its hits 70 that should make it a lot easier!) Good night :)

polyvore

So, I've recently rediscovered the addictive amusing-ness that is polyvore, and wanted to share a couple sets I made... so here you go :)
rain rain go away...
I was flipping through June's Issue of Vogue when I saw this image in the spread and it just caught me, perhaps because I can identify with the rain boots? It's soooo rainy here, I wish I hadn't left my hunters at school. Why did my mom convince me that I wouldn't need them here? It's literally been raining all week, and according to weather.com, we probably won't see the sun until about Thursday. Awesome right? I'm excited (I hope you can all sense my sarcasm...)

that girl

This was just too cute of a photo I couldn't resist. And that dress is kind of ridiculous but kind of awesome at the same time, gotta love Chloe :)

So, to share some about my day, I have some exciting news! I went to Costco for the first time today. I know, I know, why is that exciting? Well, my mother has had a membership there for quite a while, and she always comes home with the most random stuff and it's all from Costco! It's always seemed like a magical place, filled with free samples and cashmere sweaters, like the one I stole from my dad... and I must say, I wasn't disappointed! We walked around and sampled bread, watermelon, cheese, potstickers... it was pretty amazing. I think that's it!

P.S. I'm wearing a cute outfit today, will hopefully take pictures and post them tomorrow?
